PlayStation Network: Everything you need to know about PSN

PlayStation Network is a digital media entertainment service provider launched on 11 November 2006 by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was launched for PlayStation video game consoles, but later it was used in mobile phones, high-definition television, and tablets. According to the sources, in the year 2016, a total of 116 million users was documented, and with 113 million active users as of June 2020.

The PlayStation Network (PSN) services are available to the online market, especially for PlayStation Store, which is a premium subscriptions service provider that enhances gaming and social features, movie streaming, rental, and free video purchases, music streaming on PlayStation Music powered by Spotify, and a cloud gaming on PlayStation Now which is available in 73 territories.

In 2015, the PlayStation network produced and distributed their original content titled, ‘Powers,’ which was premiered on 10 March 2015. It was a hit among the viewers and users of PSN and ran for two seasons. The series got canceled on 3 August 2016. In June 2017, Sony launched another program for PSN, which is called ‘Emerging Filmmaker Program,’ where the public can submit scripts and pitches for a television program that would air on PlayStation Network. Out of all those ideas, five would be selected based on the votes from the PSN community, and it would be turned into pilot episodes for them.

How to use PSN?

To use PSN, an online ID with a username and password is required for the user. The user’s ID is central to the PSN profile, and that profile would display on the dashboard while you play the online games. In the year 2019, Sony enabled users to change their online PSN ID.

Every season Sony held a discount season for the potential gamers and buyers to buy the latest PSN such as PS2, PS3, and PS4. Currently, Sony Interactive Entertainment is busy with the launch of the highly anticipated PlayStation 5. Are you excited?
